At 54 acres, at least 99% of it is heavily wooded and has not had any wood harvested in at least 60 years.
There are golf cart (or ATV) trails around the perimeter of the property and a small creek, sometimes two in wet weather. Some fruit trees although the late frost nipped the the blooms off the plum trees and there won’t be fruit on them this year. Still there are the wild plums, persimmon and muscadine grapes to look forward to.
There is a 100 year-old cabin in the process of being restored on the property. It was once owned by Judy Klinkhammer, a beloved Mountain View musician who literally brought dulcimer music to Mountain View. Every old time musician in the county knows about this place and will have great memories to share with anyone who mentions it. There is a date scraped into a corner block, 1929. But Judy, who passed away several years ago, once said that block was not the original corner stone block, it was only added in 1929! The inside of the cabin has been gutted (all the lumber was saved) and the structure shored up with new beams. It’s ready now for a new owner to take on the project of restoring it. This would make a wonderful venue for any music related gathering!
